This page explains what information The RGV News ("we," "us," "our") handles when you visit thergvnews.com (the "Site"). You can read everything on the Site without an account, and we do not ask for personal information unless you write to us.

Information we collect

• Messages you send us: If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you enter. Our web host stores these messages for us, and we use them only to read and answer your message.
• Visit counts: We count visits with a privacy-focused analytics service. For each page view it records the page, the site that sent you, your browser and operating system, your country, your language and your screen size. It does not use cookies or store anything on your device, and it does not store your IP address.
• Standard server and log data: Like any website, our web host receives your IP address and basic technical details, such as your browser type and the pages you request, when it delivers a page, and may record them for security and to keep the Site running.

Cookies and your device

The Site does not set cookies. It stores one thing on your device: if you pick a city on the homepage weather card or the weather page, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage, so the card opens on that city next time. That choice stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can clear it in your browser settings.

Other services your browser contacts

Story pictures on the homepage load through an image service that resizes them, so your browser requests each picture from that service instead of from the publisher's site. When you click a headline on the homepage, the page tells our server which story was clicked; that message contains nothing that identifies you.

Advertising

The Site does not show ads, and no advertising cookies are used on it. If we decide to show ads, we will update this page before any ad appears, including which companies are involved and how you can opt out.

How we use information

We use the information described above only to operate, secure and improve the Site and to answer your messages. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it to build profiles of readers.

Links to other websites

The RGV News is an aggregator: nearly every headline links to an article on a third-party news website. Once you follow a link, you are subject to that website's own privacy policy and terms. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of sites we link to.

Children's privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may be highlighted on the Site.
